For me there is no better job than to be involved in solar energy. I have dedicated my life to it because it’s critically important for our country’s economy, leadership and environment.
Bob Ramlow, Solar Thermal Consultant and Trainer, Artha Sustainable Living Center
Bob Ramlow, an early trailblazer in solar energy, started Artha Sustainable Living Center in 1976. Since then, Bob has seen the industry grow tremendously. As a solar water heating consultant, Bob worked for the Wisconsin Focus on Energy Program, where he helped create and run the solar water heating program.
Bob also is one of only two Institute for Sustainable Power Quality (ISPQ) certified solar thermal independent master trainers in the world and is a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certified solar heating installer. As a result, he is called on to present training sessions on solar heating to educational organizations, state governments, utilities, manufacturers and distributors all over the United States.
“I have trained thousands of students over the years and those installers are now providing quality systems for their customers,” Bob said. “The solar heating market is still growing and we need properly trained professionals more than ever.”
Bob recently launched an online course through Heatspring Learning Institute to help prepare individuals for the new NABCEP solar heating entry-level exam. He is also helping produce a Solar Thermal Best Practices Manual that can be a resource for system designers and installers. Finally, Bob has published a book titled, “Solar Water Heating: A Comprehensive Guide to Solar Water and Space Heating Systems.”
Bob is excited to continue showing prospective clients the many benefits of solar heating systems. “For me there is no better job than to be involved in solar energy,” he said. “I have dedicated my life to it because it’s critically important for our country’s economy, leadership and environment.”
